EOS: Making the Epistemic Impact of Ontologies in Knowledge Processing Explicit

EOS provides a formal framework for automated knowledge processing. The EOS framework combines theoretical foundations derived from epistemology and ontology with recent advances in the fields of knowledge representation and processing. As such it allows for an explicit modeling of domain knowledge on the ontological as well as on the epistemic layer, which ensures a flexible, modular system architecture that overcomes the limitations of current systems. We will introduce the overall EOS architecture and discuss its practical applicability by presenting an actual EOS system for intelligent knowledge retrieval in semi-structured data.
